| Program guidelines:
- Plan on groups of no more than 30 students per program. We can repeat the program for a second class.
- Try to schedule school programs in a room that can be darkened. NEVER schedule a program in the school cafeteria because of the live animals.
- If a program is to be repeated for more than one class, please try to schedule it in a central location. Moving computer equipment and animals from class to class is very time-consuming.
- Work with students beforehand to help them understand the need to behave with respect toward Zoo animals and volunteers.
- Prepare students for their Zoo program by downloading an “Information and Activity Packet” by clicking on the program title (see links on right).

Zoo field trips:
- Plan your visit during the September through March period, when the Zoo is less crowded.
- For younger students, bring at least one adult per ten students.
- The Discovery Room may be used by grades 3-5. Prior reservation and teacher supervision is required. There may be a fee (see fee schedule).
- Discourage students from using cameras during a Zoo tour or program. It is time-consuming and distracting to the other students.
- Ask all students and family members to turn off cell phones during a program or tour.
- Pay student admission (and program) fees on or before the day of visit. Invoicing requires prior approval and will entail a billing fee.
- Make it clear to accompanying family members that they must pay the regular admission fee UNLESS they pay as a group PRIOR to the Zoo visit.
- Have students wear sturdy shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather.
- Plan to monitor students’ shopping time, if they will be visiting the Gift Shop.
