May 3, 2008 – Spring Plant Sale (8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.)
The Zoo’s Bloomin’ again this year for the Annual Spring Plant Sale on May 3, 2008. This is not your ordinary plant sale. The Zoo, once again, has teamed up with the Colorado Master Gardeners and plants, such as unique species, xeriscape, “water-wise”, drought-tolerant, as well as annuals and perennials, will be offered for sale from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the Mandari Picnic Shelter. May 11, 2008 – Mother’s Day
Mothers and Grandmothers get in free to the Pueblo Zoo.
May 17, 2008 – New Exhibit Openings
You will feel like you are stepping underground when you visit the new Naked Mole Rat Exhibit located in the EcoCenter. The native East African species live in subterranean colonies, much like bees. You’ll see the matriarch (dominant “queen”) and the rest of the “workers” who maintain the burrow system.
Also on May 17, a new Cotton-top Tamarin Exhibit will open inside the EcoCenter. The tamarins have been located in the Zoo’s Rain Forest, but the new exhibit will provide enhanced viewing for the visitors.
June 15, 2008 – Father’s Day
Fathers and Grandfathers get in free to the Pueblo Zoo.

June 27, 2008 – Froggy Friday
Froggy Friday is one of the Pueblo Zoo’s Year of the Frog events emphasizing awareness and conservation of amphibians. Beginning at 10:00 a.m., fun activities will focus on the Zoo’s new species of frogs and toads. “Leap” into this event by calling 561-1452, Ext. 125 for more information.
July 15, 2008 (10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.) Turtle Tuesday
The Pueblo Zoo will offer educational close encounters with all the turtles and tortoises, along with fun activities. If you want to learn while having fun, come out and participate in Turtle Tuesdays at the Pueblo Zoo. For more information, please call 561-1452, Ext. 125.
August 3, 2008 - Family Day at the Zoo (Sun. noon to 4:00 p.m.)
On August 3, the Pueblo Zoo will host Family Day at the Zoo. The Zoo offers discounted admission, face painting, up-close encounters with education animals, hourly give-away drawings, and food specials at the snack bar. The Zoo opens at 9:00 a.m. but the numerous fun family activities are scheduled from noon to 4:00 p.m. Bring your picnic and eat at the Zoo or try the Watering Hole’s specials of the day.
Sept. 6-12, 2008 Senior Week
The senior citizens in the Pueblo community are very important to the Pueblo Zoo. By setting aside a week in September when free admission is offered to senior citizens (65 +), we show honor to them and hope that they enjoy visiting the Zoo.
Sept. 10, 2008 – Senior Safari
In keeping with the theme of honoring our senior citizens, The Pueblo Zoo will fill the day with singing, refreshments, bingo and Zoo Docents with animal presentations (weather permitting), just to mention a few of the things we have planned.
October 25 & 26, 2008 - Batty for Bats (child admission is free when wearing a costume and
accompanied by a paying adult). Special activities are planned this weekend.
November 1 & 2, 2008 ½ price admission when you bring a canned good to the Pueblo Zoo. All
collected canned goods will be donated to local food banks.
November 21, 22, 23, 28, 29, 30, December 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14, 19 - 23, 26-30 - ElectriCritters
ElectriCritters is a holiday light extravaganza, which has become a Pueblo tradition. Annually attended by over 12,000 visitors, specially designed animal sculptures, many animated, make this event unique in the southern Colorado region. Visitors, surrounded by 250,000 lights, stroll through the Zoo where they encounter live animals as well as lighted displays, while holiday music adds to the ambience. Hot chocolate and other goodies await you in the Candy Cane Café and great stocking stuffers can be found in the Wild Things Gift Shop.
